I originally intended to have a separate scene for each hole... |
Today, as I was working on the scoring, I realized the number of total scenes could get a little crazy. I only intended to have 9-hole courses, but with several different courses, that leads to about 50 scenes...
So, I'm trying to see if its possible to have one terrain per course... I'm worried the detail quality and accuracy won't be good enough at a larger scale. Interestingly, I noticed the terrain resolution is clamped at 4096, but I've created terrains at 8192 via script. I guess that's not too strange, because I know there are other terrain properties that are also limited in the editor, but not via script.
I'm going to build one or two holes at this scale and test. Hopefully, it works, if not, I'll just continue to use the scene-by-scene approach for each hole.

The creation of the first course was mostly improvised. I'm trying to plan the second course better, by starting with an overhead drawing, then I'll use that as a rough template for the course when I paint the textures and heights in Unity. | |
